What Is Tonsillitis?
Tonsils are the two lymph nodes located on each side of the back of your throat. They are part of our Immune system. Their main function is to fight with infecting agents like bacteria, virus by producing white blood cells. When the tonsils themselves become infected in this process, the condition is called tonsillitis.
Tonsillitis can occur at any age, though it is quite common in children.

Causes of Tonsillitis
Tonsillitis can be caused by a virus, such as the common cold, or by a bacterial infection, such as strep throat.
This infection easily spreads from person to person through air contamination while coughing & sneezing

Symptoms of Tonsillitis
There are many symptoms of tonsillitis, but you are unlikely to have them all. The most common include:
 Sore throat
 Difficulty swallowing or painful swallowing
 A scratchy-sounding voice
 Bad breath
 Fever
 Chills
 Earaches
 Headaches
 A stiff neck
 Jaw and neck tenderness (due to swollen lymph nodes)
 Tonsils that appears red and swollen
 Tonsils that have white or yellow spots

In very young children, you may also notice increased irritability, poor appetite, or excessive drooling. Seek immediate medical care if you or your child is having difficulty because the swollen tonsils may be obstructing the airways.
Complications

Improperly Treated or Ignored Tonsillitis Usually Lead to More Dangerous

1. Rheumatic fever (inflammation of the heart, joints, and other tissues),
2. Glomerulonephritis (inflammation of the kidneys).
